Mentor

Dr. Randa ElMallah is an Orthopedic Surgery Fellow at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. Orthopedic Surgeons are people who do surgery in any orthopedic related issue. She is currently completing her fellowship, which means she is technically still a trainee, but she is able to see patients and their lab work, etc, but she has an attending or a supervising doctor who supports her with patients or when she is on call. During the week, there are two days in which she usually is scheduled for surgery, which is monday and friday. When she is not doing surgery, she goes around and checks on patient progress. I am really excited to work with Dr. ElMallah and to be given this great opportunity to have her as my mentor. I am passionate about learning what an orthopedic surgeon does on a daily basis in a hospital. During this process, I will have mentor visits which will allow me to gain a deeper understanding of what exactly she does in the hospital.
