New Opportunities

This past week, I have been looking for an orthopedic surgeon to become my mentor.

Things with my first choice have slowed down and he will not be able to. However, I went to my

own orthopedic doctor - because I had to get a check up on my ankle - and he said that it was a

hospital thing, so he recommended some private practices so that I could interview some doctors.

The first one that he recommended was the Carroll Clinic at the STAR. I have contacted Dr.

Eugene Curry who is a foot and ankle injury specialist. I hope to hear back from him and see if

the Carroll Clinic does offer some shadowing opportunities. If not, my orthopedic doctor told me

about the OAD (Orthopedic Associates of Dallas). However, since they are affiliated with Baylor

Scott and White it may not be a true possibility. If neither of these works out then I have a family

member who is prepared to be my mentor, but the only problem with that possibility is that she

lives all the way up in Massachusetts and that could cause some issues. Apart from that, I have

finished work on my poster for the showcase and am making some finishing touches. This next

week I am hoping to get an interview and then also ask them to be my mentor.
